Tension

Tension – it has a negative connotation to it, and most people try and get rid of it. But without tension in our lives we have no drive to succeed in our goals. Mitch Joel’s podcast with Seth Godin talks about the importance of getting out of your comfort zone so you can create something great and become successful in your career. The same theory applies when trying to change your lifestyle and become fit.

After listening to Mitch Joel’s podcast, for my choice I decided to listen to Yuri Elkaim of Super Nutrition Academy Health Class. The topic of this podcast was 10 Fat Habits Destroying your diet. Yuri Elkaim owns his own company called Elkaim Group International, Inc., commonly referred to as “Total Wellness Consulting” His mission is to help 10 million people achieve their goals by 2018. He lives by the philosophy: train smart, eat clean, and believe you can achieve anything. The format of his podcast was an informative presentation. It was elaborating on 10 Fat Habits and what his views on each Habit was.

This Podcast was prerecorded and it was Yuri speaking alone on his opinions of another published article: “10 Fat Habit Destroying Your Diet” I found this podcast on my iTunes app and it was readily available to me without signing up for anything. I did end up subscribing to it anyway.

Yuri Elkaim Produced a great podcast, his voice and speaking skills are articulate and is easily understood. The conversation with himself flowed and did not have any awkward silent moments. It was noticeable that he was not reading but truly knows what he was talking about and could easily get his points across. Over editing was not a factor when listening to this podcast. It was fairly simple and flowed quite well. Although there was no music included I enjoyed it without as my time is valuable and I would skip over the music anyway. Speaking of the value of time, I don’t have much of it, so I was worried about finding time to listen to these podcasts but it worked out quite well while driving to work/school. What I liked about Yuri’s was it was easy to stay engaged and he kept it brief by not going on forever about each topic. It fit into my drive perfectly.

I felt this podcast fell right into the topic of having tension in your life because whether you’re losing or maintaining weight or just want to live a healthy lifestyle. There will always be tension on you and temptations. Our body craves all of the sugary, & fatty foods, but we need to go out of our comfort zone and turn vegetables and protein into our comfort food. Yuri gave some great feedback and motivating insights on how important and how easy it could be to eat healthy. Yuri understands that you have social life and many people eat out, they crave that junk food once a week, and he says that it’s okay! It is all about moderation. You can still be happy & healthy!
